Cirque du Soleil • Comicon 2011
For the 42nd Comic-Con International, Cirque du Soleil had the opportunity to present their awe-inspiring show in a large outdoor advertising performance. Cirque’s vision involved transforming photos from their show into comic book characters for the event. Rabbit Hole’s team of illustrators modified over twenty-seven photographs into various comic book characters and scenes, which were then composited into a flowing animated piece that sends the viewer on a flying journey through a comic book. The processes of storyboarding, creative planning, animation and sound design were all put to use as Rabbit Hole worked to bring Cirque’s vision to life. The final result was advertised at the 2011 Comic-Con International and served as an introduction for a groundbreaking performance, where live Cirque performers interacted with projected video content on the side of a building.
